As someone who has always been passionate about helping others, I have found that occupational therapy is the perfect career path for me. I have seen firsthand the positive impact that occupational therapy can have on a person's life, and I am eager to be a part of that change. In addition to my academic interests, I have always been a patient and compassionate person. I have always wanted to work with people from all walks of life. I want to become skilled at helping my future clients to overcome challenges and reach their goals. My education continues at Springfield College. I have gained experience through my two practicums. I have seen my supervisors therapy sessions, evaluations, discharges, treatment plans, assessments, and more. Overall, I have seen progress in almost all clients and understand the value of holistic care.
I started Irish dancing 15 years ago. I am very passionate about this sport. I have been in the open championship level (the highest rank you can have in this sport) for 6 years now. I have been to regional and nationals competing in the solo division. Currently I have taken a break from competition to further my education and future career.
Before my acceptance to the Occupational Therapy program I shadowed an Occupational Therapist named Allison. She works at Mile tree elementary. During my sophomore year I spent over 300 hours with her. During this time I worked by her side to helping her students. This gave me beginning knowledge to occupational therapy and how to help children to the best of my ability. Everyday my love for occupational therapy grows as well as my knowledge on the concept. I understand the discipline, patience, and hardworking mindset needed for this career.
