· Act as chief executive officer and the official spokesperson for the union
· Supervise office staff, set work agendas, maintain a healthy environment
· Act within the confines of the Constitution and the policies established by the membership and the Executive Committee
· Address concerns and resolve disputes with university management in creating a balanced and equitable work environment where every member’s contribution is acknowledged and valued
· Supervise day-to-day implementation of union policy and programs
· Oversee the negotiation and enforcement of the collective bargaining agreement
· Represent the local before bodies of the employer, community organizations, legislative officials, news media
· Provide administrative support to the executive office.
· Assists Human Resources with administration and consultation of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Paid Family Medical Leave (PFML), and other leaves of absence, as well as sick leave bank policies for staff in accordance with federal and state regulations, university policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
· Assist Human Resources with the search process by scheduling recruitment activities such as search committee meetings, phone screenings, and candidate interviews. Prepare offer letters, student hiring forms, and assist with new employee onboarding.
· Principle contact between the campus client and Network Communications.
· Support the campus community in all issues regarding network communications, including design and implementation of effective network and voice systems.
· Coordinate with other UMass IT team members to schedule, coordinate and oversee the installation of voice endpoints and network connections.
· Conducts meetings, seminars, planning sessions to determine the scope of all projects and provide advice to clients.
