Rory Hall

I volunteered as a farm hand for three months during the summer of 2024. I helped muck stables, open pens, and helped brush the horses. Additionally, I helped to feed a variety of chickens, geese, and other birds. The job was physically intense especially in the summer heat, but it was very fulfilling to care for sanctuary animals.

As a student volunteer I was responsible for weeding, watering, clearing brush, and general clean-up tasks at a local garden for The Providence Preservation Society. I worked on Saturday mornings twice a month throughout the year. It was satisfying and enjoyable work that allowed me to connect with other students in my grade. I enjoyed being able to get my hands dirty to plant bulbs, and watching them bloom in the spring was satisfying proof of our work. Being able to brighten up the urban environment with a pocket of greenery was an accomplishment that I shared with a handful of my peers.
