Work History

Research Scientist

AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals
09.2021 - Current
  • Designed and executed studies to evaluate potential CDID compounds in-vivo.
  • Ran tolerability, efficacy, and PKPD studies to assess compounds in the in-vivo hemes group.
  • Performed the tissue culture of various hemes, breast, and brain cancer cell lines to implant IC, subcutaneously, or through intracarotid injection.
  • Established flow cytometry and western blot panels to detect biomarkers and evaluate dose responses in mouse bone marrow.
  • Carried out ELISA assays to evaluate IL-6 levels in-vivo.
  • Presented regularly for the department about my ongoing studies and progress as well as participated in smaller group meetings with the project design teams to analyze data and go over next steps.

Technical Research Assistant

McLean Hospital Neuroregeneration Institute
06.2019 - 09.2021
  • Worked in the Neuroregeneration Institute of Dr. Penelope Hallet, PhD, and Dr. Ole Isacson, PhD studying the biological mechanisms related to Parkinson's disease and dementia.
  • Performed all stereotaxic transplantation surgeries (400+) for the ongoing pre-clinical project as well as wrote Standard Operating Procedures, FOB testing, perfusions, tissue collection/necropsy, and iPSC cell handling all at GLP standards.
  • Gained experience performing mammalian cell line maintenance (human fibroblasts) and analysis using ELISA assays, GCase assays, and PCR.
  • Performed in-vivo experiments and injections (IP, SC, IM) on rats and mice, took care of general lab maintenance and animal colony care (200+ rats and 200+ mice,) used IHC/IFC methods to fix, mount, and analyze rodent brain tissue, microscopy analysis, and blotting techniques.

Neuroscience Research Student

Cruz-Martín Neuroscience Laboratory
05.2017 - 05.2019
  • Used ImageJ/FIJI analyzed behavioral movies and quantified cells labeled with gene transferring methods and rabies to understand the role of a schizophrenia-related gene in cortical functions and social behavior.
  • Processed fixed brain tissue and stained using various IHC methods.
  • Handled animals, performed basic molecular biology methods, performed perfusions and injections, and imaged using epifluorescence microscopy.

Genetics Research Student

Connecticut College
12.2017 - 05.2019
  • Worked with Phillip Barnes Ph.D. to examine DDT resistance in various D. melanogaster strains.
  • Created a self-designed experiment to study the impact of high and low selection pressure on DDT resistance across multiple generations. Conducted a statistical analysis through ANOVA as well as self-written programs.
  • Crossed drosophila of different strains to see if genotype has an impact on DDT resistance as well as mating patterns.

Organic Chemistry Research Student

Connecticut College
09.2017 - 02.2018
  • Worked as a research student in the Organic Chemistry lab of Timo Ovaska, Ph.D. Researched compounds and mechanisms to synthesize various organic compounds from different starting materials.
  • Helped to determine a pathway to synthesize Precapnelladiene from 2-cyclopentanone and then followed through with the physical synthesis.
