  • Schedule new patient and post-operative appointments in EPIC, confirming date, time and location of appointment and appropriate MD.
  • Call the patients the day before their visit to
    confirm all information, remind them of bringing necessary paperwork, pathology slides and films.
  • Confirm that patients are informed about directions, parking and the process for their first appointment including the amount of time required for the
    appointment.
  • Ensure all new patient charts are prepped (both temp and electronic chart) by including all the medical information pertaining to the patient is available for the surgeon from various sources within and outside the hospitals, clinic and MD offices. This will include all necessary radiology films, pathology slides,
    in addition to written reports and by updating the physician database as well as the patient demographics. Emergency, walk-in, and add-on patient may also be possible requiring a quick
    turnaround for new patients.
  • Assist in making necessary travel, hotel arrangements, and financial agreements for patients that are coming from out of the state or country.
  • Scan all appropriate records into the EPIC system upon receipt under proper index information to allow others the ability to locate such records in the future. Scan all outside medical records for division of Thoracic Surgery.
